Could Your Morning Shower be bad for Your Health?
By: Eric Minden

If you are like me and over half of the American population you probably enjoy a refreshing shower first thing in the morning. Morning showers are said to help wake you up and make you feel more energized. So why is that researchers are saying that taking a shower in the morning is bad for your health? Here is why.

Your shower water is filled with chlorine and chlorine by products that can be harmful to your health. The following is a list of the toxins in your water and their effects.

Chlorine is a disinfectant added to most water supplies and is capable of hardening arteries, irritating skin, and may even heighten allergies and respiratory problems.

MX is another chlorinated acetic acid which is a by product of chlorine. This by product has been known to cause genetic deformation which can lead to cancer. This has also been found in each sample of chlorinated water that has been tested.

Chloroform is an authoritative by product of chlorination and may cause accelerated aging. Also, Chloroform may cause normal cells to alter and cholesterol to oxidize. This is known as carcinogen.

DCA is short for Dichloro acetic acid and can alter metabolism and may even me capable of causing liver cancer.

If you drink chlorinated water you are putting yourself at risk for bladder and rectal cancer. Although you may not be drinking the water while you are in the shower, you are absorbing at least five times the amount of water than you would be if you were drinking it.

When you take a hot or warm shower you are allowing your pores to open which in turn causes your skin to act as a sponge. While in the shower you are inhaling the chlorine and absorbing them through your skin. This allows the chlorine to enter the blood stream faster than your drinking water would enter.

If you continue to take a morning shower you are allowing yourself to be open to long term effects such as hardening of the arteries and increasing risk of cancer. In fact, if you suffer form allergies, asthma, sinus issues, or emphysema, you may be making your condition worse.

The best thing you could do for your health is to cut back on the morning showers. Allow yourself enough time at night to take a shower before bed, if you must take a shower in the morning, feel free to do so. Just remember your health and the risks that come with the shower.
