Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is one of the most commonly found chronic illnesses in America. Nearly five million people live with this disease, and half a million more develop it each year. This disease may be slightly problematic, or it may become quite severe and interfere with daily living. Individuals with CHF undergo many deviations from their previous daily routines. They have to take drugs to lessen fluid buildup and to reduce the work performed by their heart tissue. Several of these cause anxiety and fatigue. These medicines may also hinder physical relationships with a life partner. Another struggle that persons with this condition encounter is the requirement for significant diet changes. Many have to stop eating red meat, avoid foods with a lot of fats or sodium, or restrict the quantity of liquids they consume each day. These people are instructed to diet and exercise to keep their bodies as fit as possible. Unfortunately, however, persons with congestive heart failure no longer possess as much physical endurance as they previously did. Instead, they have to watch as friends and relatives play tennis, swim, or work out. This leads to isolation and loneliness. In addition, many sufferers mourn their loss of physical strength and wellness. Many people who encounter this and have not yet reached retirement age must also stop working. As well as creating money problems and depression, this can increase emotions of isolation and seclusion. They are completely alone. Instead of bantering with the person at the neighboring workspace, they stare at the television while everyone else continues living. At times, patients take depression or anxiety drugs to cope with these losses. Others choose counseling or group treatment to help them with fulfilling belongingness needs and working through the mourning created by their freshly changed lives. A better way of managing this form of depression, however, has achieved recent recognition and gained practically immediate approval with individuals who have trialed it. Furthermore, unlike drugs or counseling therapies, this technique is quite economical. Clients can learn its use without experiencing further money stresses. This approach, which utilizes a blend of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), helps clients to begin to relax and find peace and serenity in their daily lives. These therapies teach people to accept the new limitations in their lives while guiding them to continue living life to the fullest extent that they are able. Even depression that results from medicines can be easily treated through the proper use of the methods available through hypnotherapy and NLP. Two such strategies are anchoring and the Flash. Ericksonian Hypnotherapy is often known as conversational hypnotherapy. It offers methods for supplying post-hypnotic suggestions embedded in a conversation or figure of speech. The benefit of this method is that it eliminates the subconscious opposition to direct suggestions that is nearly always encountered when using more traditional styles of hypnosis. Through anchoring, hypnotherapists and NLP Practitioners instruct people to concentrate on happy thoughts and situations from the past in which they felt relaxed and capable. As the individual is progressively absorbed by these recollections, they are able to re-experience those positive feelings. The person then learns to make a physical anchor for these feelings by touching two fingers together. The subconscious mind makes a connection between the actual touch of these two fingers, and the positive feelings. Afterward, upon encountering an anxiety-producing or depressing moment, an anchor is elicited through touching together the two fingers, evoking feelings of peace and calm. The Flash method is also quite helpful to people who are working to conquer depression. This approach programs the brain to instantaneously use those destructive thoughts that are creating stress and sadness, as triggers for beneficial thoughts that will create relaxation and tranquility. With practice, clients soon become nearly unable to have negative thoughts! Summary: Individuals with congestive heart failure often encounter sadness as a result of mourning over decline of their physical health and well-being. Other elements that sometimes help cause depression are medications and financial stresses. Both Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP offer excellent strategies for helping clients to cope with sadness without being forced to spend enormous quantities of time and money.
