How To Convert TV Footage To DVD Disc
By: Isaiah Henry

The world is going digital, and so is entertainment. However, you still probably have a stash of old VHS tapes that you want to watch occasionally, and lament that they are not on DVDs instead, what with the tapes wearing out, getting stuck in the player, all the rewinding and forwarding to do Watching DVDs is so much simpler and better.

If your house is anything like mine, you have a plethora of old VHS videos that you wish were DVD's. If you are lucky, you still have a player that will allow you to watch them on occasion. But, what happens if either the tape or the VHS player wears out? Before that happens, learn how to copy videos to DVD.

In the last few years, all the movies you like best cannot be found on VHS, if you life depended on it. You still have a VHS player, but you recently lost a tape when it got stuck in the machine and came unraveled. You know you are on borrowed time.

If your computer is not equipped with one, online purchase of the hardware is quite handy. You may watch as well as record your favorite television programs, from your PC or even laptop, with the help of the tuner. Same tuner is used to transfer a VHS recording to the computer.

However, even if you have a tuner, some programs are copyright protected, which means that you will only be able to see the video on the computer of the original recording. So, you will need to check and see if you have permission to make a DVD.

Do you feel you are almost through now, unfortunately not quite yet, you may still have a problem because one television program telecast takes around thirty minutes and approximately 1 GB of disk space. Since most of the CDs have about 700 MB of disc space, you might need to compress or shrink the file to fit on the portable media before you start the recording, or simply record to a DVD.

Once you start recording your favorite television shows on DVDs, life would be so much better! One DVD can typically hold about three hours of television programming, on high-quality recording. So, you can actually put several episodes on one DVD.

With the free-to-copy programs you can put recorded shows into any media device and then onwards no looking back and forth for a mobile entertainment facility. You will have the privilege of copying shows to discs that you can enjoy at home alone or entertain your guests and even watch it outdoors.

DVDs are also easy to store and maintain. They take up very little space, and require hardly any special arrangement. The DVD format is also not in danger of becoming obsolete soon. So, you can store all your favorite shows complete seasons, even so long as you ensure that you do not violate any copyrights. Happy viewing!
