One of the best ways to drive yourself crazy is to opt to buy perfume gifts for someone. Perfume gifts are a tricky kind of gift to select because you may not be aware of how your preferred brand and type of perfume will smell on the recipient. You also do not know if the perfume gift will be used by your special someone or simply handed off to another person for use. Thus, you always have to be careful when selecting perfume gifts so that you know it was money well spent and a gift truly appreciated. Good perfume is very hard to discern because there are literally hundreds of brands out there competing for your attention. You have clothing manufacturers who have branched out their business into perfumes as well, and you have showbiz celebrities who claim to have had a hand in developing unique fragrances to which they lend their endorsement and even their names. This may partially explain why perfume brands are so expensive if they have to compete against other equally-good perfume brands from other companies and people. So how do you choose perfume? You can opt to play it safe when choosing perfume gifts by sticking to popular names in the business. For instance, Clinique is a well-known skin care manufacturer so a product from it like the Clinique Aromatics Elixir might be a safe purchase (especially if the recipient is known to have sensitive skin.) If you like designer clothes, then perhaps you trust perfume labels like Yves St. Laurent Paris and Ralph Lauren Romance. Calvin Klein really scored a hit with his CK One (which incidentally sparked the creation of many imitations in the counterfeit blackmarket) so that label is always a good choice. Another bestseller from Calvin Klein is his Obsession creation. The nice thing about CK One and Obsession is that they seem to suit most people with varying skin oil types so that does wonders for sales of these two products (and also makes it easier to give perfume gifts.) We also have some unusual choices like Paloma Picasso for Women (a product created by the daughter of the great Picasso, Paloma Picasso.) This product even retails at Wal-Mart so that makes it different from many designer perfume brands which are usually sold in the high-end perfume counters of upscale department stores and boutiques. Cartier (a jewelry maker) also has its own label called So Pretty. If you are into showbiz celebs, then maybe you would be inclined to choose Fantasy by Britney Spears. Or if you are really into Posh Spice and her hubby David Beckham, then you might go for Intimately Beckham Night. Paris Hilton also came out with her own perfume called Can Can. The advantage these showbiz people have over other perfume makers is that they have a ready-made market waiting to patronize their products because of the huge fan base such endorsers bring along with them to the marketing table. Other brands have to hire professional models to endorse their labels but these showbiz people claim to have helped in the actual development of these products associated with them so what fan would not snatch up these perfume in hopes of being closer to their idols? If you do not mind not leaving the recipient in suspense, the best way to choose a perfume gift is always to bring along the recipient to choose his or her gift. This is because that is the sure-fire way to find a product that will best suit his or her body type. Barring that, your next option is to raid his or her toiletry set and find out what he or she likes to wear as fragrance. Its a bit unscrupulous yet effective. If you can get someone who knows the recipient very well to spill the beans, a less furtive way of knowing the preferred perfume label is to casually inquire among these close family members or friends. Some friends like to share perfume with one another so this is also a good way of discovering what your gift recipient enjoys wearing. Regardless of whether you bought the perfume gifts on your own or you brought along the recipient to choose, you must always make sure there is a return-or-exchange policy. For the price you will be paying, this is your best guarantee against a defective product.
