Cancer is found in around 100 different forms. The abnormal division and formation and cells without control or order forming an outgrowth or tumor lead to the cancer. Benign tumors are not often cancerous but malignant tumors are cancerous. The cancer stem cell content and intrinsic ratio and the sensitivity of the cancer stem cells are often known to vary between various tumors thereby affecting their radio curability. Most cancers are attributed to from their beginning. For example, lung cancer starts in the lung and breast cancer in the breast. Metastasis is the spread of the cancer from one part of the body to another and the setting up of secondary tumors at distant sites from the original tumors is called as metastases. Causes of Cancer Symptoms and treatment depend on the cancer type and how advanced it is. The various treatments offered include surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Causes of cancer cells are the building blocks of living things. The nature of normal cells is that it multiplies when the body needs them to multiply and they die when the body doesn’t need their growth. The abnormal multiplication of the cells in the body too rapidly causes Cancer. Doctors call it as when "cells forget” how to die". The causes of cancer are varied and different. Cancer can affect any organ and tissue such as the lung, colon, breast, skins, bones or the nervous tissues. The mutation in the DNA changes these instructions thus the cells go on growing. This phenomenon causes the cells to reproduce in an uncontrolled manner, producing a lump of tissue called as tumor. The only parts of the body immune from cancer are the hair, teeth and the nails. Cancer Symptoms Symptoms of cancer depend on the type and location of the tumor. For example, lung cancer can cause coughing, shortness of breath, or chest pain, while colon cancer often causes diarrhea, constipation, and blood in the stool. Local symptoms occur when the cancer is contained in one part of your body. These include changes in bowel or bladder habits, a sore that does not heal, unusual bleeding or discharge, thickening or lump in the breast or any other part of the body, indigestion or difficulty swallowing, obvious change in a wart or mole, or nagging cough or hoarseness. Cancer Treatment The type and stage of cancer often determines the treatment to be given to it. The stage of cancer refers to its growth and its spread from its original state and location. A cancer confined to one location and non spread gets treated with surgery and cure. If the tumor has spread to local lymph nodes only, sometimes these can be removed. Acupuncture, meditation and yoga are often recommended to patients with their regular medical treatment. If surgery is not an option then the other treatments include radiation, chemotherapy, or both. Some cancers require a medley of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy to get the best treatment to the disease.
