Wedding Photography: A Guide to Capturing Perfect Wedding Moments

A wedding is beyond question one of the most precious occasions in someone's life. Capturing the wedding on film to be stored forever is even more important. Nowadays, brides and grooms have a variety of choices concerning wedding photography.

Here are several ideas you should think about when arranging for wedding photography:

Booking the Best Wedding Photographer

Before you can decide on a wedding photographer, you should first make a decision about the style of wedding pictures you would like to have. Portrait photographers will be able to take both formal and candid photographs, but their training may cause them to favor a more formal style of photo composition. If you want more casual photographs, then think about finding a photographer with a journalism background. You may have a friend or a relative who is a serious hobbyist photographer. They might be happy to do your wedding photography for free or at a "family special" price, but you must judge whether or not they're capable enough to trust with preserving your wedding memories.

Choosing the Right Format: Film, Digital or Both?

You'll usually see two basic film cameras at weddings: the 35mm and the medium format. Shots taken with medium-format cameras usually have better resolution which enables bigger enlargements. However, today's digital camera models, especially high-end models, are easily capable of high-quality wedding photography.

Traditional Color or Artistic Black and White?

The vast majority of wedding photography is done in color, but black and white photographs have a fantastic artistic feel. As the years pass, black and white photographs tend to be more durable, but color photos have higher resolution. Of course, if you choose digital wedding photography, then this is a choice you don't have to worry about. Digital photos can be processed to produce color, black and white, or anything in between.

Booking a Wedding Photographer with a Good Attitude

Your wedding day is a memorable event but it can be nerve-wracking too. What you don't need is a wedding photographer with a negative attitude--it doesn't matter how perfect his photographs are. Don't hire a wedding photographer without a personal interview. Request references and then call them. Be sure to review his previous wedding photography.

Use these hints to choose the photographer that you're willing to count on for your wedding photography. A scrapbook filled with gorgeous wedding photographs will be a beloved remembrance of your special day and a priceless inheritance for your loved ones.
