We all know that the hardest substance in the world is the diamond. Anywhere you go in the world diamonds are rare, highly sought-after, and expensive. While we all know that diamonds are expensive and valuable very few people know how these substances are formed and the reason behind their high value.

Many societies have made diamonds as a measure of distinction and excellence. The word diamond comes from the Greek word “adamas” which means unconquerable.

Warriors of ancient civilizations wore diamonds during battles to symbolize strength, courage, and invincibility. This is one of the many instances that show how valuable diamonds are among many societies and nations.

Many diamonds are mined in many parts of Africa particularly the central and southern areas. There are however many gems mined in certain parts of Canada, Australia, Siberia, and Brazil. Siberia is known to have the single biggest diamond mine in the planet.

There are four aspects that are considered in evaluating the worth of a diamond. These are cut, clarity, carat, and color. There are also types of diamonds- pink, yellow, white, green, blue and champagne.

Pink diamonds are considered the most valuable in the planet. They are also the rarest. Pink diamonds are supplied by the Argyle Mine, producing at least 95 percent of the supply in the world. But did you know that only a small percentage of Argyle Diamonds are actually pink in color?
