Which is Right for my Business? Plastic Corrugated or Paper Corrugated

Packaging industry has grown into a very large industry world over. As the industry has grown, it has come out with various ways to package materials using different materials to help enhance profitability of business.
Plastic corrugated is one such material which has been developed from such innovative research. This material is also known as corrugated plastic. The material is quite durable and has been designed to replace ordinary paper or cardboard, as corrugated product in the long run. Presently, corrugated paper or cardboard is used extensively for packaging purpose. But, their use may go down as plastic corrugated becomes more and more popular as packaging material.
Corrugated plastic is produced by fusing two plastic liners together on either side of a sheet of wavy plastic material which is known as fluting. Such a packaging material consisting of three layers has some amount of weather and chemical resistant properties. Therefore, such a product provides better alternative as a packaging material in comparison to traditional packaging materials.
Paper corrugated gets eroded or broken down if stored for a pretty long time. But, plastic corrugated, being weather resistant, would last much longer. Also, unlike packaging materials made from paper, it does not absorb water. Also in test results, it has been found that corrugated plastic has a tensile strength as well as tear strength twenty times more than paper. Thus, its strength would me much more than traditional packaging material made of paper.
There are additional advantages in using paper corrugated as packaging material. Using such a product helps in saving significantly in labor cost and reduces waste. Plastic corrugated does not leave any dust or other residue when used for packaging. Thus, employees do not have to spend extra time to clean the area and also it is more environment friendly. Companies having clean room operations would prefer plastic corrugated for this reason. Also because of its longer life, extra expenses would not be incurred to replace packaging material continuously because of broken or worn out containers.
Another advantage of this material is that it could be used for many other purposes like constructing boxes, bins, pallet sleeves, stacking totes, material handling carts and racks, dividers and partitions.
Previously, products manufactured in electronics industry used to be packed in standard paper corrugated boxes. But, the disadvantage of such a packaging material was that not only it had low strength and got easily damaged but also it had no conductive or anti-static property.
With the introduction of plastic corrugated, these problems have been solved for electronics industry and they are mostly using plastic corrugated to meet their packaging needs.
Therefore, it appears that plastic corrugated would be used more and more as packaging material and use of traditional paper based packaging would get reduced.
